Exciting Developments…
Hello from the studio!
I hope you’re well and have managed to enjoy some sunshine.
It’s half term and it seems to have raced round. Linda Bloomfield’s special effects glazing and Kate Tom’s needle-felting masterclasses were fully booked, lovely, lively events full of intense concentration and fabulous results.
The current classes for handbuilding and throwing have produced some fantastic work and it’s great to see skills steadily developing and students loving their time in the studio.
BIG NEWS…
I’m delighted to welcome Caroline Aisher to teach a new 6 week Wednesday morning hand-building class - starting 19th June 10 - 1pm (£198) with another course planned for September.
Caroline is a widely exhibited ceramicist and experienced, patient and supportive tutor. Her influences are landscapes, the sea and natural forms. She utilises wild clays & minerals in her work and experiments with clay slips and oxides to give colour, texture and structure. Check out her website here.
There is also a new opportunity to learn how to throw in the studio with a 5 week Friday evening throwing class - starting 7th June 6 - 8:30pm (£220) and just a couple of places are available for a 6 week handbuilding Thursday morning class starting Thursday 6th June 10 - 1pm. All classes are bookable through the website here.
Craft Festival is around the corner (June 7th - 9th). I’m not exhibiting this year as running the studio has overtaken production somewhat but I’m looking forward to visiting.
We have a couple of cancellations for the next two upcoming Masterclasses:
Justine Allison - Fine Porcelain Hand-Building 13-14 July '24
Justine is incredibly skilled at handbuilding in fine porcelain. I think it’s going to be a very special weekend. If you’re a handbuilder or porcelain lover, prepare to be amazed.
Chris Keenan - Form, Function and Family 10-11 Aug '24
It’s not often you get to experience the combined
knowledge and skills of Edmund de Waal (who Chris
apprenticed with) the renowned potter that is Chris
Keenan. Not only that but he’s a thoroughly lovely
person and great teacher. Chris will be focusing on
wheel thrown porcelain vessels.
I’ve rearranged some Saturday workshops to include more throwing tasters so do check the dates if you’re interested.
The Gallery has varied and beautiful work available

On a personal note, rather than the perfect instagram picture, the bills at the studio are high, and it’s a huge effort to keep everything ticking over as it should. I couldn’t do it without your support & I’m so very grateful. I hope that the studio will continue to grow, provide exceptional training opportunities and be a creative place for developing a love of all things clay.
Wishing you a sunny, happy & healthy time ahead.
Best wishes,
Jilly x
