First of all, a huge thank you to everyone who has sent a message, popped in to say hello, bought a card or something bigger from the gallery. Your support is much appreciated. Most of all, my gratitude goes to everyone who has worked in the studio learning new skills. It’s been such a pleasure to share it with you.

I love teaching what I love and there’s always something new to ponder, translate and communicate so I’m constantly learning too.

It’s hard to believe that we have only been open for four months! I’ve had an annoying teething problem with a transparent glaze that has held up final firing times but I’d rather get it right than risk spoiling students’ work so thanks for your patience if this has affected you. Apart from that, all the planning and hard work has meant that the studio is running smoothly and it is great to see the shelves full of work.

To celebrate and as a thank you gift, all email subscribers will be automatically entered into a draw to WIN a place on a PORCELAIN HANGING CHRISTMAS DECORATION WORKSHOP. There are currently two dates available - 14th and 31st Oct. The prize will be transferable as a gift for a friend (if you don’t live close enough to come yourself) and the draw will be made on the Monday 18th Sept. This means that any new subscribers will also be entered so please do share this email with anyone you think would love to get creative with clay.

Just this last week, I have finally had some time to throw some large bowls. They’ve since been turned (bases trimmed) and are slowly drying before they can be fired.

It’s going to be a busy term with a grandson arriving, school teaching and Exeter Uni Primary Enrichment Workshops.

Classes for this half term start this week. Throwing on Wednesday evenings and handbuilding on Thursday mornings still have places but booking closes 24 hours before they start so you’ll have to be quick if you’d like to join one.

Devon Open Studios goes live this week on 9th September!

The event is the biggest of its kind in Devon, and this year showcases the work of 350+ artists working all over the county. There is so much to see, from painting, to printmaking, pottery, glass, jewellry, sculpture, metal work, furniture making and so much more.
