CLAY MATES TALK & DEMO with Imogen Taylor-Noble

  • Vessel Ceramics 44A Court Street Moretonhampstead, TQ13 8LG United Kingdom (map)

Imogen’s commitment to sustainability in her making and firing methods is inspirational. She uses wild clays and wood ash for glazes and in 2024 she built a fast-fire Philosphers’s kiln here in Devon which fires on waste wood.

Her work is a response to the ongoing climate emergency, trying to find a way forward as a maker, as an artist and as a citizen of the planet we call home. Her inspiration comes from nature and the ancient Japanese kilns of Bizen and Shiguraki, and traditional and contemporary Korean Buncheong.

Imogen will present a slide show and demonstrate her intriguing upside-down coiling method.

This will be a small group gathering in our lovely Dartmoor studio. Come and be inspired & meet up with other potters. Bring your Clay Mates!

Refreshments will be provided (or you can arrive early and queue to buy bread/pastries at the Van du Pain in Moretonhampstead Square).

The session will be £45 with any profit after studio and speaker fees going to a charity of the speaker’s choice.
